What kind of music/vinyl will I get?
Each month we survey the outer edges of the new vinyl & reissue landscape, pick our favorite release and send it to you. You can expect something within the realm of ambient, drone, dub, electronics (new & old), ethnographic, krautrock, minimalism, modern composition, new age, psychedelic, spiritual & free jazz. The monthly selections are curated by Greg Davis of Autumn Records.
When do you announce the monthly selections?
We will usually announce the record of the month during the last week of the previous month. Look for announcements on our website, social media channels & email list. Also check out our website for additional content (videos, interviews, write ups, etc.) about each monthly selection.
How long does my subscription last?
The Outer Sounds vinyl subscription period lasts for 3 months, your subscription will automatically renew for another 3 months unless you decide to cancel. We feel that 3 months gives you a good chance to get a feel for what we are all about & spend some time absorbing the records we’ve sent you.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You may cancel your subscription at any time by contacting us, however the remainder of your 3 month subscription will be fulfilled regardless of when you cancel within that 3 month period. We don’t offer refunds or partial refunds on subscriptions. You can cancel by logging into your account that you set up when you started the subscription.
Can I update / change my payment method and/or shipping address?
Yes you can. Login to the account you created when you signed up and you can update your shipping address
& credit card info there.
When does my subscription start?
Your vinyl subscription will start for the calendar month after you subscribe and last for 3 months. Vinyl will be shipped out to you around the middle of each month. For example, if you subscribe on October 10th, you will get your first record in November. (and then in December & January).
When will you mail my record to me & how long will it take to get to me?
We will mail vinyl out to everyone around the middle of each month. If you live in the USA, we ship USPS Media Mail. So depending on where you live, it may take about 7-10 days or so to receive your record. If you live in the rest of the world, we ship USPS First Class Package, it may take a couple of weeks to receive your record. We will provide everyone with a tracking number each month. USPS has been slower during the pandemic and holidays, we appreciate your patience!
Can I exchange or return vinyl? What if I already own a record you sent me?
You may exchange / return 1 record during each 3 month subscription period. Records cannot be returned once they have been opened, it must still be sealed & in the condition you received it. You are responsible for the cost of return shipping. Once we have received your return, you may pick out 1 record for $30 or less from the Autumn Records online store as your exchange & we will mail that to you. If possible, try to contact us after we’ve announced the monthly selection and before we have shipped out the record, that will make things easier for everyone. Again, we don’t offer refunds or partial refunds on subscriptions. We encourage you all to give the records we send you a fair chance and spend some time listening to them, patient engagement with these sounds is often more rewarding over time. Please contact us if you’d like to make an exchange/return.
Is there a local pickup option?
Yes! if you live in the Burlington VT area and you’d like to pick up your monthly vinyl subscription in person at Autumn Records in Winooski, please
contact us and we will provide you with a code to use during checkout to enable local pickup.
How can I get in touch with you?
Please visit our contact page and send us an email from there. We generally respond to emails very quickly. Good customer service is very important to us. If you have a problem or questions, we will do our best to address it!
Who runs this business & where are you located?
Outer Sounds is owned & operated by Greg Davis who owns a record store called Autumn Records in the great state of Vermont.
Who made the cool logo & graphics?
From the inception of this project, we always had

Full terms & conditions for the Outer Sounds vinyl subscription:
Subscribers in the USA will receive 1 brand new, sealed vinyl record every month for 3 months for $100. Shipping cost is $6/month. (Burlington VT area subscribers, please contact us for a code to enter at check out for local pickup). You will be charged for a 3 month subscription ($100) + 3 months of shipping costs ($18).
Subscribers in Europe / Rest of World will receive 3 brand new, sealed vinyl records every 3 months for $100 + shipping cost. In order to save on international shipping costs, the 3 records will be bundled together and shipped during the 3rd month of the subscription. Shipping cost is $41 every 3 months. You will be charged for a 3 month subscription ($100) + shipping costs ($41).
Subscribers in Canada / Mexico will receive 3 brand new, sealed vinyl records every 3 months for $100 + shipping cost. In order to save on international shipping costs, the 3 records will be bundled together and shipped during the 3rd month of the subscription. Shipping cost is $34 every 3 months. You will be charged for a 3 month subscription ($100) + shipping costs ($34).
All subscriptions will automatically renew every three months until you decide to cancel. You may cancel at any time, however the remainder of your 3 month subscription period will be fulfilled. Monthly selections will be announced towards the end of each month & vinyl will be shipped around the middle of the following month.
